Oleksandr TELIZHENKO (SumDU professor) was an expert in an article by the Dutch periodical “Dagblad Trow”. He commented on the situation with Russian gas transit through Ukraine to Europe in wartime.
The publication emphasizes the unique role of the Ukrainian gas transit system. Despite the hostilities, it remains an important element of the European energy security.
In his commentary, professor TELIZHENKO emphasized the contradictory nature of Ukrainian situation. On the one hand, gas transit provides revenue for the budget. On the other hand, it causes resentment among the population suffering from military aggression. However, Ukraine keeps fulfilling its international obligations.
He also made predictions about future of gas pipeline after the current contract expiration. The professor noted that transit is likely to continue, given the interest of all parties to the conflict, including Europe, Russia, and Ukraine.
Oleksandr TELIZHENKO gave his comments to the Dutch periodical against the backdrop of the university building that was damaged by the air strike. Despite the destruction, SumDU scientists keep actively participating in the international expert community. They confirm the high level of science and education.
