Thanks to support of the French Institute in Ukraine and Campus France, Andrii ZAHORULKO (head of the Volodymyr Martsynkovskyi Department of Computer Mechanics, associate professor) completed a two-week research internship. It took place at the tribological laboratory of the PiPrime Institute of the University of Poitiers (France) in December.
The scholarship was awarded by the French Government. Together with Noel BRUNETIER (director of research at the NSC), Jean BUYET (associate professor) and Pascal JOLLY (research engineer), joint experimental research on non-contact gas pulse end seals was discussed. The participants got acquainted with sliding bearings, a device for analyzing the tribological characteristics of friction pair materials, and experimental benches for researching mechanical end seals.
Andrii ZAHORULKO had an opportunity to learn the procedure for defending dissertations in France. In particular, our scientist attended defense of several PhD students. The topics: “Numerical and experimental study of nanotextured surfaces in the hydrodynamic friction regime”, “Design and testing of a new bearing based on ex-pore hydrodynamic lubrication”, “Modeling and experimental analysis of semi-static cryogenic lip seals”.
The rich program of the foreign internship also included numerous meetings with leading scientists of the University of Poitiers. It comprised joint analysis and generalization of research experiment results.
