Andrii LOBODA (head of the SumDU Medical Institute), has become a member of the ERDERA Multistakeholder Supervisory Board of the European Alliance to research rare diseases.

The scientist and 20 other members of the Supervisory Board were selected from among more than 100 applicants. The SumDU representative is the only specialist from Ukrainian universities and medical institutions who joined the Alliance Supervisory Board. The selection process lasted from October 2024.

The Alliance for Rare Disease Research is supported by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program. It is led by the National Institute of Health and Medical Research – INSERM (France).

The initiative brings together over 180 organizations from the public and private sectors to promote research in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases.

The main Alliance goal till 2031 is to improve health and well-being of people living with rare diseases in Europe, positioning Europe as a world leader in rare disease research and innovation.

The multi-stakeholder board will provide strategic guidance to ERDERA, helping to shape research directions and support activities that directly address needs of patients. It will play a key role in advising on clinical trials, funding strategies and collaboration opportunities.
