On 10 March 2025, SumDU celebrated the National Anthem Day. Students, administration members, and school pupils came together at different campuses in Sumy to solemnly perform the national anthem.

The flash mob, organized by the university, became a symbol of unity, national pride and respect for state symbols. The event participants emphasized importance of the anthem as one of the main elements of national identity that unites Ukrainians worldwide.

The national anthem of Ukraine is the song “Ukraine’s Glory and Freedom Have Not Yet Died”. The lyrics were written by Pavlo CHUBYNSKYI in 1862. The music was composed by Mykhailo VERBYTSKYI. The anthem was first performed publicly in 1865. After Ukraine declared its independence in 1991, the song gained official status. In 2003, the Verkhovna Rada approved its text as the Ukrainian National Anthem.

The National Anthem Day is celebrated every year on 10 March. This holiday is intended to honor the national symbol that sounds during the most important state events. It unites all Ukrainians.

SumDU congratulates everyone on the National Anthem Day!

Together with the main country’s song, we are building the strong and independent Ukraine!
