Every year, the Osvita.ua web portal summarizes the ranking results of Ukrainian higher education institutions by indicators of publication activity in the Scopus database. The total number of publications and citations is analyzed, and the final ranking is based on the h-index.

In 2025, the SumDU h-index increased by 8 positions compared to last year’s value, which allowed SumDU to move to the fourth place in the ranking. The top five national universities also include Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

In total, 221 higher education institutions of Ukraine are represented in the ranking, including 8 universities that entered the ranking for the first time.
