About three hundred roses have been planted near the wall of SumDU Unit 2 that was destroyed by a Russian missile strike as a living symbol of grief, memory and hope.
According to Olha VOVK (representative of the charitable organization “Sumy Region – Unbreakable Outpost”) and the public organization “Frontier of Unity”, these flowers were delivered from Odesa. The roses were an expression of sympathy and support. The flowers were handed over to volunteers who asked SumDU to plant them at the place where the citizens were killed.
Volunteers, together with representatives of the university community, planted the flowers near the destroyed wall of Unit 2, where the lives were cut short suddenly and unjustly.
These are not just flowers. They are a symbol of rebirth and hope. According to legend, the ancient Greeks saw the rose blossom as a sign of eternity, and the Romans considered it the flower of victory. So, we believe that together with the roses our unbreakable SumDU will flourish and win: through pain, through losses, but with an unbreakable faith in future.
