On June 15, Sumy State University took part in the “Study in Ukraine” educational exhibition held in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. The event was organized with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ukrainian State Center for International Education , aiming to promote Ukrainian higher education among Azerbaijani youth.
The exhibition was officially opened with a ceremony and press conference led by Yurii HUSIEV, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Azerbaijan; Olena SHAPOVALOVA, Director of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education; and Aminaga SADYGOV, Deputy Head of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Science and Higher Education.
Around 20 Ukrainian higher education institutions participated in the event, presenting their academic programmes and providing comprehensive consultations on admission procedures, languages of instruction, academic mobility, scholarships, and opportunities for double degree programmes.
SumDU was represented by Tetyana MAYBORODA, Deputy Head of the International Affairs Department, and Mykola BOZHKO, Head of the Center for International Education. They introduced visitors to the university’s wide range of English- and Ukrainian-language programmes in medicine, IT, management, business, and engineering. Special attention was given to digital learning opportunities and participation in international mobility programmes.
"We aim to broaden cooperation with Azerbaijan and create new pathways for students seeking high-quality European education in Ukraine," noted Tetyana Mayboroda.
It is worth highlighting that the Azerbaijani student community ranks fourth among all international student groups in Ukraine, reflecting a high level of trust in Ukraine’s higher education system.
As part of the visit, SumDU representatives also visited the Ukrainian Center in Baku, where they discussed prospects for joint educational, scientific, language, and cultural events and conferences. In addition, a meeting was held with representatives of Baku Slavyan University to explore ways to deepen cooperation within the framework of the existing partnership agreement.
SumDU’s participation in the exhibition, business meetings, and partnership events marked an important step in strengthening educational dialogue between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. The university will continue to actively develop international collaboration and provide high-quality, modern educational opportunities for students from around the world.
