The international platform “Science|Business”, which brings together European universities, scientific institutions, and politicians in innovation, published an article about SumDU initiative to raise funds for recovery of its destroyed infrastructure. The publication appeared on 6 June 2025 in the International News section and became another testament to SumDU’s growing influence in the international academic community.
In the article, journalist Florin Zubașcu describes in detail the consequences of the Russian missile attack on the university buildings. Also, it covers how SumDU launched a global fundraising campaign to independently seek resources for reconstruction. The author emphasizes that in the context of war, Ukrainian universities are not only surviving but also demonstrating resilience and responsibility.
“Many students and parents ask about safety, how we will continue the educational process, how we will live in Sumy. But we believe in our future, in the resilience of Sumy, and we are waiting for support from our colleagues,” – quotes the publication a university representative, which emphasizes the importance of preserving the space where a new generation of Ukrainians is educated.
The article also mentions that SumDU is a member of many international educational and research networks, including the European University Alliance NEOLAiA. It already has the support of partner institutions in Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
The Science|Business publication is an important signal to international donors, researchers and educational institutions that SumDU is not a damaged institution, but a strong player ready for recovery, change, and new partnerships. Such attention helps not only to raise funds, but also to build trust in Ukrainian education at the global level.
