According to the updated results of the international ranking “Web of Universities (Webometrics)”, SumDU is assessed second among Ukrainian institutions after Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The top five domestic institutions also include Ihor Sikorskyi Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

In total, the July 2025 edition of Webometrics evaluated over 32,000 institutions worldwide. The ranking methodology is based on open webometric and bibliometric indicators that comprehensively reflect the global academic influence and online presence of a university.
