On 18 August 2025, SumDU was again attacked by the Russian army. The enemy deliberately and cynically struck several consecutive blows at the leading educational institution – the center of scientific and intellectual development.

Commenting on the terrible event, rector Vasyl KARPUSHA emphasized: “Another, very painful blow to the SumDU brand. This is not a blow to a specific building, this is a blow to our success, because we are very, very important for Sumy and Ukraine. That is why it hurts… But, despite such painful blows, we are becoming more resilient and purposeful”.

The most damaged was the N Building – one of the newest and best, energy-saving. Here, scientific research, classroom training, sports competitions were conducted. It was in this building that a unique beach volleyball center, a wonderful dance hall, a student cafeteria with the most delicious food were located.

• Artem KOBZAR, acting mayor of Sumy – about the SumDU significance and complexity of fire extinguishing;
• Anatolii CHORNOUS, vice-rector for scientific work – about the damaged Center for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment;
• Oleksandr CHEKHOVSKYI, director of the Public Catering Complex – about the completely destroyed cafeteria;
• Yurii VOLK, dean of the ElIT Faculty – about assistance of students and employees in saving equipment and continuing the educational process and scientific activities.

This film is a record of enemy crimes and a reminder that together we can overcome and restore everything: the university, the city, the country.
