SumDU has officially become a signatory to the CANIE Accord, an international climate action initiative in international education. The university has joined over 130 higher education institutions and educational organizations that have pledged to make their activities more environmentally responsible.
Despite wartime challenges, SumDU demonstrates an unwavering commitment to principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility. Membership in CANIE confirms the intention to actively work to create a more environmentally conscious educational environment.
Within the CANIE Accord, participants make commitments at three levels: basic, improved and best. They cover various aspects of university activities: from campus energy efficiency to integration of climate issues into educational programs and research. The commitments are consistent with methodological approaches and indicators of the leading “green” ratings in which SumDU participates: THE Impact Ratings, UI GreenMetric and QS WUR: Sustainability.
