On 2 October 2025 at the I. I. Mechnykov Odessa National University, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine presented state certification results of scientific and higher education institutions in terms how they implement research activities in the areas “Engineering and Technology” and “Natural and Mathematical Sciences”.

According to the assessment results, SumDU entered the qualification group A in both of these areas. This is the third area in which the university confirmed the highest category. Previously, SumDU was certified in the area “Social” and also assigned to the qualification group A.

Currently, university materials in the areas “Humanities and Arts” and “Biomedical” are at the evaluation stage. Official results are expected in the nearest future.

Obtaining the category A certification provides SumDU with the right to basic funding for scientific activities in relevant areas for 2026-2030.
