Sumy State University has received a new shipment of humanitarian and technical aid from Fulda University of Applied Sciences (Germany) – a long-standing strategic partner of SumDU and a member of the E³UDRES² European University Alliance . The donation includes laptops, network switches, projectors, and other network equipment with a total value exceeding 3.5 million UAH.

In addition to the equipment, Fulda University of Applied Sciences has launched a fundraising campaign  on its official website  to support the restoration of Sumy State University. Within this initiative, two local Fulda banks contributed 1,000 euros each  to help SumDU recover from the consequences of devastating Russian attacks that damaged university buildings and infrastructure.

President of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Khakzar Karim, expressed his solidarity with the SumDU community:

“We are following the terrible situation for the people of Sumy and for our friends at Sumy State University with great concern. We are stunned by the senseless destruction of the university buildings and infrastructure by Russian attacks that violate international law. We know that our aid is only a drop in the ocean. But it is a sign that our thoughts are with our colleagues at our partner university. We have to thank all the brave Ukrainian people for defending our values and our future.”

Tetyana Mayboroda, Deputy Head of the International Relations Office of SumDU, emphasized the importance of this continued partnership with the German partner:

“The support from Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the local community is not only about equipment, interinstitutional academic exchange programmes for staff and students, or participation in summer and winter schools,  – it is about solidarity, empathy, and shared European values. Being our partner within the E³UDRES² European University Alliance, Fulda University once again demonstrates what true European cooperation means in practice. Each initiative from our partners brings both practical help and emotional strength to our university community in Sumy. We deeply appreciate that our friends in Fulda stand with us during these challenging times.”

SumDU sincerely thanks Fulda University of Applied Sciences, its leadership, staff, and local supporters in Fulda for their ongoing solidarity and tangible assistance. This partnership stands as a powerful example of European unity, shared values, and true friendship that goes far beyond academic cooperation.
