Vasyl KARPUSHA (SumDU rector) took part in a meeting with Haiko TOMS (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine). The heads of leading Ukrainian universities were invited to the dialogue as well.

During the event, the parties focused on the key challenges of higher education institutions in frontline territories. The topics were demographic changes, updating educational programs in accordance with needs of country’s recovery, preserving human resources in the regions.

SumDU is actively developing cooperation with German partners. Currently, SumDU and German institutions have 25 long-term cooperation agreements in force. The university participates in joint projects: Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, DAAD. Academic mobility programs are implemented for students and teachers.

German partners also provide humanitarian and technical assistance. Only in the last month, SumDU received a batch of laptops, communication and network equipment worth over UAH 3.5 million from the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. It is a strategic partner of SumDU and a member of the European University Alliance E³UDRES².

The participants focused on interstate scientific clusters, joint research, young scientists’ support and deeper university partnerships.
