On 20 November 2025, Times Higher Education as one of the most influential ranking agencies in the world published the second edition of the Interdisciplinary Science Rankings.

SumDU demonstrated a high level of commitment to interdisciplinary research, entering the top 500 universities worldwide. Among 38 Ukrainian institutions that participated in the ranking, 15 universities from Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava, Sumy, Uzhhorod, Kharkiv and Chernivtsi were rated.

The ranking methodology contains 11 performance indicators to assess institutions in three key areas, each of which represents a stage in the research project life cycle. It covers inputs (funding), process (availability of mechanisms for measuring success, administrative support and promotion, quality of relevant material and technical base), outputs (publications, research quality, reputation).
