Chairman of the Academic Council, Honorary Rector of Sumy State University Anatolii VASYLIEV was awarded with the distinction of the Sumy Regional Council “For Merit to Sumy Region” (the 3rd degree).

Professor VASYLIEV received this high award for many years of activity aimed at the development of education and science, as well as for his contribution to forming a positive image of the region in Ukraine and abroad. For about 26 years, Anatolii Vasylovych held the position of first vice-rector, headed the institution for 17 years, and now makes a significant contribution to SumDU development as the academic council chairman and rector advisor.

He is an Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in education. He is a professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, and Honorary Citizen of Sumy.

During the award ceremony, the First Deputy Chairman of the Sumy Regional Council Vadym LYSYI noted the role of Anatolii VASYLIEV in formation of SumDU as a modern and competitive institution. During his leadership, the university consistently strengthened its scientific base, expanded international cooperation, and introduced new management and educational approaches.

The congratulations were also joined by the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the SumDU Supervisory Board Ihor MOLOTOK. He thanked Anatolii Vasylovych for his responsible, systematic, and far-sighted work. He wished good health, new achievements, and further success in professional activities.
