This year’s Christmas at SumDU was celebrated to the sounds of heartfelt traditional carols and with a great mission in our hearts.

Activists from the SumDU Student Trade Union created a real festive atmosphere not only within the university walls, but also brought Christmas cheer to institutions and organizations throughout our city.

In particular, carolers visited the TSUKR media, Tetiana MYRONENKO (representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Sumy Oblast), and other organizations with a Christmas nativity scene.

The main goal of the Christmas events was to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Each carol sounded not only as a symbol of the holiday, but also as a belief in the approaching victory. All funds collected during the Christmas celebrations have already been sent to help our defenders.

“This year, the carols felt special because in many places where we were, our star lit the way for us. Christmas caroling is a tradition that should be preserved and passed on. And now, it is also a way to support charity, as all raised money was donated to the army. We gathered a large group of enthusiastic students, so the spirit of Christmas and unity was felt to the fullest. It was especially nice to visit my alma mater, so I would like to thank the SumDU administration and all staff for their warm welcome”, – said Anzhelika KALCHENKO (deputy chair of the Student Trade Union).

The student caroling became a vivid example of preservation and revival of Ukrainian Christmas traditions. They are passed down from generation to generation. In difficult times for the country, such initiatives take on special significance, as they not only support cultural heritage, but also strengthen the spirit of unity and mutual support in the community.
