Dear university family and friends of Sumy State University!

I sincerely congratulate you on the upcoming holiday – New Year 2026! The end of the year is a time for reflection, gratitude, and new hopes. And 2025 was a special year for our university.

SumDU twice endured Russian attacks that dealt painful blows to our community. But despite this, we persevered thanks to unity, mutual support, and strength of spirit. We continue to be leaders in educational and scientific stability. We prove every day that Sumy State University, like the city of Sumy, is alive!

We are consistently chosen by applicants and their parents. It means that the quality of education at SumDU inspires trust and confidence in acquisition of high-level professional knowledge. Even in these difficult border conditions, the university staff ensures a continuous and comprehensive educational process, for which we are very grateful.

The university continues to hold high positions in national and international rankings, including Times Higher Education, QS, UI GreenMetric, etc.

SumDU received the highest rating in all five areas of state certification: “Social Sphere”, “Engineering and Technology”, “Natural Sciences and Mathematics”, “Humanities and Arts”, and “Biomedical Sphere”. In terms of group A, the university ranks first among all institutions in Ukraine. The high rating of the state certification once again emphasizes that SumDU is a powerful scientific center, and its achievements are the joint merit of the entire university staff, who work every day for Ukrainian development. The volume of revenue from scientific and research work commissioned by domestic and foreign partners continues to grow. For several years in a row, the university has consistently been among the best Ukrainian institutions in terms of scientific funding.

We strengthen academic contacts in the international arena and expand joint projects with partner institutions and organizations in different countries. We feel their sincere support in difficult times.

We are proud of our students’ achievements. They are extremely talented and bring glory to our university at prestigious sports competitions and art contests. Like each of us, they do a lot of charity work to support our soldiers and our native Ukraine.

I express my sincere gratitude to everyone who participates in volunteer activities, who works for victory, who, on the front lines or in the rear, nurtures a happy future for themselves, their families, and their homeland.

I have great respect for everyone who helped the university overcome consequences of the missile attacks: students and colleagues. We  continue to teach, study, and work despite the circumstances.

We believe that the New Year 2026 will be a year of recovery, good news, good health, and new personal and professional achievements for all of us. I wish that it will bring warmth, peace, and hope to every home.

Above all, I wish our country victory and return of peace. May defenders of Ukraine be under a reliable protection, and may our hearts remain strong and unbreakable.
