On 7-14 January 2026, the Slavic Cup and the Ukrainian Cross-Country Skiing Championship took place at the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center of the National Sports Complex of Ukraine. SumDU students demonstrated a high level of training and won many awards.

At the Slavic Cup stage, SumDU athletes climbed the podium three times in individual 10 km races:

• Yehor MYHAL – gold in the individual 10 km classic style race;
• Daryna MYHAL – second place in the individual 10 km classic style race;
• Denys MUKHOTINOV – third place in the individual 10 km freestyle race.

In addition to the prize places, SumDU athletes showed consistent results in other disciplines:

• 4th place – Daryna MYHAL (10 km freestyle);
• 5th place – Daryna MYHAL (classic style sprint);
• 6th place – Denys MUKHOTINOV (10 km classic style);
• 6th place – Yehor MYHAL (classic style sprint).

Within the Ukrainian Ski Racing Championship, SumDU students also achieved significant results. In particular, the Sumy Oblast teams won classic relays among men and women. The teams comprised SumDU students Denys MUKHOTINOV, Daryna MYHAL, and Viktoriia MYHAL.

In the sprint disciplines of the Ukrainian Championship, the following athletes won gold medals:

• Denys MUKHOTINOV (sprint relay);
• Daryna MYHAL and Yehor MYHAL (classic style sprint).

On 14 January 2026, SumDU athletes added two more silver medals in the mass start. They were won by Denys MUKHOTINOV and Daryna MYHAL.
