On 21 January 2025, Times Higher Education (one of the most authoritative ranking agencies in higher education) announced ranking results of the world best universities in 11 fields of knowledge.

Sumy State University was included in five areas of the World University Rankings by Subject 2026:

• Social Sciences – positions 401-500;
• Business and Economics – positions 501-600;
• Engineering – positions 801-1000;
• Physical Sciences – positions 801-1000;
• Medicine and Health – 1001+.

SumDU took the first place among Ukrainian institutions in fields of Business and Economics, Engineering, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences. It shared the top spot with Dnipro Polytechnic University.

The university has been represented in subject area “Medicine and Health Care” for the second year in a row. This demonstrates results that exceed indicators of many specialized medical institutions in Ukraine.

We sincerely congratulate the university staff, especially the scientific and pedagogical workers of relevant departments, faculties, and institutes. They perform duties at a high professional level and contribute to SumDU prestige in the international academic space.
