On 24 February 2025, SumDU leadership, Medical Institute members, representatives of student self-government and trade unions, veterans, families of fallen soldiers, and clergy gathered for a joint prayer for Ukrainian victory and unity.

The event took place on the Alley of Fame, which was set up in honor of fallen soldiers of the 155th Battalion and the Basy Territorial Defense Forces. Everybody prayed for soldiers who are currently defending our country, for all those who support them at home, and for a just peace and a bright future in Ukraine. The memory of the fallen heroes was honored with a minute of silence.

Participants laid flowers at the memorial sign, on which names of fallen defenders of the 155th Battalion and the Basy Territorial Defense Unit are engraved.

According to the Verkhovna Rada Resolution as of 12 February 2025, the National Prayer Day is celebrated annually on 24 February. It is the day when Russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This day reminds us that Ukrainian strength lies in the unity of its people, in joint prayer and struggle for freedom and independence.
