On 30 March 2026, a grand opening of a modernized educational shelter was held at the Ukrainian-Swedish Research Center SUMEYA and the SumDU Department of Pathological Anatomy. The facility was renovated within the international Horizon Europe project “ARGO”.

The event was attended by Vladyslav KONDUS (head of the SumDU Research Department). Professor Roman MOSKALENKO presented chronology of space creation, separately noting the role of the university administration and the ARGO consortium in developing security infrastructure for researchers.

In addition to the location opening, the participants discussed a strategic initiative. It is creation of the Biomedical Cluster of Sumy Region, which should locally become a bridge between fundamental science and practical medicine.

The event program was continued by the 6th meeting of the Young Scientific Society of Pathologists (YSS). Young researchers demonstrated a true synergy of theory and practice. The meeting included presentation of the startup "Doctor Copper" (innovative copper bandages for wound healing), which became a finalist of the "Breakthrough 4.0" competition. Also, there was detailed analysis of a complex clinical case of non-pigmented melanoma metastasis. This is joint work result of scientists from the SumDU Medical Institute and the medical laboratory “Dila” (Kyiv).

The updated space will become not only an “island of safety”, but also a modern platform for generating ideas that integrate Ukrainian science into the European research space.
