On the night of 21 April 2026, Russian troops carried out another attack on the city of Sumy using unmanned aerial vehicles. The strikes damaged SumDU buildings, in particular the Palace of Student Sports as well as a student dormitory.

The enemy is once again targeting education and sports. This is not the first time the university community has faced consequences of enemy attacks. Despite everything, SumDU continues to operate, ensure the educational process, and restore the damage step by step.

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who responded promptly to the situation and joined in the cleanup efforts: rescue and utility services, university community. In the early morning, our staff, students and volunteers have picked up cleaning tools. Without orders, simply following their hearts. This is the true SumDU – unbreakable and united.

Together, we will stand strong and recover.
