The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved a list of centers for collective use of scientific equipment that will receive state financial support in 2026 to develop their material and technical base and ensure uninterrupted operation of research infrastructure (Ministry of Education and Science Order No. 802 as of 18 May 2026). Two SumDU centers were among winners: the Center for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment (CCUSE) in the Social Sciences field and the CCUSE “Pump Studio Engineering and Modeling Center”. The total funding amounts to 3.6 million UAH.

Among the 18 winning centers, there are research infrastructures spanning a wide range of fields: quantum materials, AI, digital engineering to humanities and social sciences. SumDU is represented by two centers working in different scientific fields and providing access to modern infrastructure for researchers, graduate students, undergraduates, and external users.

The funds will be used to increase energy independence of the university research infrastructure.

At the “Pump Studio”, a 50 kW backup power supply system will be established using modern hybrid inverters and battery energy storage systems. This will ensure continuous operation of scientific equipment and conduct of research regardless of external power supply conditions.

At the “Pump Studio”, there will be a project for a comprehensive hybrid solar power plant with a capacity of over 40 kW and an energy storage system. The new energy infrastructure will ensure stable operation of center equipment and enable more efficient use of renewable energy sources to support scientific and engineering activities.

Both projects involve co-financing by SumDU, which will oversee the installation and commissioning work.

For SumDU, this is a further confirmation that the infrastructure system established at the university continues to develop, attract external support, and open up new opportunities for conducting research even under today’s challenging conditions.
