The Student Council of the BiEM Institute has launched a new podcast discussing youth development, local initiatives, and future prospects in Sumy.
The guest was Alona SERHIIENKO – CEO of the media outlet “Tsukr”. She is a SumDU graduate and former student director of the BiEM Institute.
The episode discussed whether it is possible to study, develop professionally, bring one’s own ideas to life, and build a career while remaining in one’s hometown. Special attention was paid to the role of local media in community building and city development.
During the conversation, Alona SERHIIENKO shared her own experience working in media and recalled her years of involvement in student self-government. The podcast participants discussed how student initiatives help young people see more opportunities around them, meet like-minded people, and create their own projects.
The podcast addressed motivation to work for one’s city and importance of people who stay in Sumy and develop local initiatives even in difficult times. They also discussed things that often go unnoticed in daily life but shape atmosphere and future of the community.
The podcast served as another example of how SumDU students create modern media content, raise relevant topics, and engage university alumni – who are currently working on the city’s development – in dialogue.
