Every year on 23 August, Ukraine celebrates the National Flag Day – one of the main symbols of our state, its sovereignty, freedom, and national unity.

Today, the blue-and-yellow flag flies in the squares of Ukrainian cities, atop government buildings, on the front lines, and in the homes of Ukrainians worldwide. For each of us, it has become not only a national symbol but also embodiment of struggle for freedom, resilience, and faith in Ukraine.

In the midst of a full-scale war, the Ukrainian flag has taken on special significance. Its return to liberated territories marks restoration of Ukrainian control. Its blue and yellow colors unite military personnel and civilians, students and teachers, and Ukrainians both at home and abroad.

Today, the national flag reminds us of the price of independence and of each person’s responsibility for the future of their country.

We bow our heads in honor and respect for those who defend Ukraine, and we thank everyone who works every day for its victory.

Let us remember: blue and yellow are the colors of the state that we defend, build, and pass on to future generations.
