SumDU has been included in the list of 12 Ukrainian universities that, following a competitive selection process conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, have been given an opportunity to advance to the next stage of the CampeX project – “Support for Campuses of Excellence”.

The project is being implemented within the joint initiative between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the World Bank. The initiative title is “Improving Higher Education in Ukraine for Results” (UIHERP).

Based on results of a comprehensive evaluation of competitive proposals, SumDU was selected to develop the campus of excellence “Center for Biomedical Research” in fields of biomaterials, medical biotechnology, and translational technologies for regenerative medicine.

The list of winners also includes leading higher education institutions in Ukraine that will develop campuses of excellence in areas of strategic importance to the state. The next step for the universities will be preparation and implementation of investment projects aimed at establishing and developing these campuses of excellence.

Investments under CampeX may be directed toward acquisition of modern research and educational equipment, renovation and reconstruction of educational and scientific spaces, development of IT and network infrastructure, energy modernization, acquisition of specialized software, international certification and accreditation, expert support, and other measures to develop campuses.

 “Center for Biomedical Research” will strengthen the university’s capacity to conduct interdisciplinary biomedicine research and to promote new respective technologies and practical solutions.

Overall, CampeX will establish a network of flagship university centers that will bring together strong research teams and infrastructure; foster interdisciplinary collaboration; engage students, researchers, and international partners; and create conditions for generating new knowledge and technologies.

For SumDU, participation in CampeX opens up opportunities for further development of research infrastructure, strengthening of biomedical research, and expansion of cooperation with Ukrainian and international partners in fields of science, education, and innovation.
