On the evening of 20 September 2026, Russian troops fired a guided bomb at the SumDU campus.

Most importantly, nobody was injured. Russian forces are once again targeting civilian infrastructure and educational institutions. As a result of the attack, facades, windows, and doors of the university’s main unit, as well as other nearby buildings, were damaged. 776 windows were shattered. Damage assessment and cleanup efforts are currently underway.

We sincerely thank rescue workers, utility services, staff, students, and everyone who cares to overcome the consequences of another Russian attack.

This is not the first time the enemy has struck the university. Despite constant attacks and enemy’s attempts to destroy Ukrainian education, SumDU continues to operate and ensure educational process.

Walls can be damaged and destroyed, but our resilience and unity cannot be broken.
