SumDU is launching practical implementation of its research ambassador program. The goal is to expand international partnerships and facilitate creation of joint research consortia.
Scientific ambassadors will identify international partners, establish professional contacts between researchers, and bring research teams together. It will unfold new opportunities for joint research projects, international grant competitions and research initiatives.
The program’s main tool will be the SumDU electronic catalog of project ideas. It will systematize scientific proposals of university’s researchers and enable them to be presented to the international academic community. The catalog will facilitate identification of shared research interests, establishment of professional contacts, and preparation of grant applications.
Research results obtained through government contracts and grants, as well as scientific and technical cooperation with enterprises, can serve as a basis for new international projects. The university plans to involve foreign universities, scientific institutions, research centers, and innovative companies in further development of these initiatives.
Another focus is expanding the SumDU’s international stakeholder base. The university will encourage effective work of research ambassadors via financial incentive mechanisms provided for by internal procedures.
“We want Sumy research results to form a basis for international research. To achieve this, we need to find partners, form consortia, and jointly attract international grant funding. The catalog of project ideas should help the university identify opportunities for implementing joint international projects,” – noted Vladyslav KONDUS (head of the SumDU Research Department and coordinator of the scientific ambassador program).
Currently, the university is working out mechanisms for implementing the program, forming a network of ambassadors, and establishing their interaction with research teams. The expected outcomes include new international partnerships, research consortia, and joint scientific projects.
For SumDU as a university in a frontline region, this initiative opens up additional opportunities to attract resources, develop research schools, and strengthen participation of Ukrainian scientists in international research.
