Ranking Web of Repositories by Webometrics identified Sumy State University repository as the best in Ukraine and in the world TOP-40.

Webometrics studies university repositories’ contribution to support of global policy of free access to scientific findings. According to the ranking methodology, the more scientific works the repository contains (which were not available in the Google Scholar database before, so-called primary versions), the higher is the contribution of the repository.

Interestingly, among all the versions of scientific work, Google Scholar will first offer the user a primary version, thus promoting the repository that placed it first. SumDU repository that was launched 10 years ago within the development of open access policy at the university, currently obtains 75 000 scientific works in the university’s periodicals as well as scientific works of SumDU scientists in external editions, qualification and dissertation works of university students etc., more than 70% of which are classified by Google Scholar as primary versions.

The social impact of universities, open-source universities and other web-based resources is estimated in the Webometrics overall ranking, which makes Sumy State University one of the top-three higher education institutions in Ukraine.
