Specialists of the Departments of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology and Paediatrics of the Medical Institute of SumDU created the standard of drug-induced administration provided for the treatment of patients of middle and severe acute of COVID-19. Guidelines are approved by the Department of Public Health of Sumy Regional State Administration.

The action plan of COVID-19 treatment was developed by the Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mykola Chemych, Ph.D. (Medicine) Oksana Chemych, Ph.D. (Medicine), Associate Professor Tetiana Bynda. Also, the Head of the group of infectious disease experts of the Department of Public Health of Sumy Regional State Administration Iryna Trotska and children’s municipal infectious disease specialist Maryna Korniienko are among the guidelines’ drafters.

Larysa Moroz, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, the Head of the Department of Infectious Disease with Epidemiology of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsia, acted as a reviewer of the guidelines.

“The standard of drug-induced administration provided for treatment of COVID-19 patients we have developed is a foundation of local guidelines in Ternopil, Odesa and Volyn”, - the Head of the Department of Infectious Disease with Epidemiology of SumDU Mykola Chemych noted.

Professor explained that the guidelines of use of medical products for COVID-19 patients are created on the basis of recommendations of the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), they learned and took into account other countries’ experience and action plans of treatment in world benchmarks, like China, Israel, Iran, Italy, Palestine, etc.

“There are groups of anti-viral, anti-infective, immunosuppressive, antifever medicines, etc. used in the therapy. These medicines’ effectiveness was demonstrated in a number of severe cases, that’s why its timely appointment increases the chance of recovery” – Mykola Chemych noted.
