Sumy State University for a second year in a row took the 1st position among Ukrainian HEIs in the University Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education. Overall, the university ranked 201-300 among more than 750 HEIs worldwide.

The ranking evaluates the universities’ activity by the level of positive impact on society, economy and environment. This year the number of participants from Ukraine increased from 6 to 11 higher education institutions.

The university was evaluated first of all by the contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals for the period of human development till 2030. The experts of THE evaluated in particular the effectiveness of current projects the university fulfills in the field of popularization and improvement of healthcare, family planning and support, physical education and sports, provision of comfortable work conditions, equality and non-discrimination, inclusiveness, development and implementation of “green” technologies, participation in the local and regional governance, etc.

Phil Baty, THE Chief Knowledge Officer: “Your university positions in this ranking highlight that the university not only supports the Sustainable Development Goals through education, research and knowledge transfer but also implements them into life quite convincingly”.

It is worth reminding that last year the main Times Higher Education ranking identified SumDU in the TOP-group of the best research universities globally, and additionally ranked 801+ in the THE University Rankings in Engineering and Technology.
