The team of Sumy State University won the championship in the competitions for the Youth Cup of Ukraine in street basketball (3x3) among men's teams of higher education institutions.

The Cup of Ukraine was held on November 16th in Kyiv. 16 student teams took part in the competition, including two teams from Sumy State University.

Both teams of the SumDU confidently won their groups and reached the quarterfinals. Unfortunately, SumDU-2 stopped at this stage and eventually took 5th place. The main team of SumDU had no peers in the competition, and with a crushing score of 22:4 defeated the team of the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in the final.

Ihor Starodub, a postgraduate student of Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Research Institute of Finance, Economics and Management, is recognized as the best player of the competition. Danylo Diadechko, a freshman at the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies, and Vsevolod Chesak and Mykhailo Shkoda, master’s students majoring in Physical Culture and Sports at SumDU Medical Institute, also became champions.

For the third time in a row, SumDU wins the Ukrainian Youth Basketball Cup among student teams. According to the Head Coach of the SumDU national basketball team Yaroslav Kovalov, the athletes were well prepared and ready to win and went to Kyiv to confirm their first place. As for the SumDU-2 team, fifth place is a very good result for the start, there are great prospects for development and future achievements.
