The Play-Off and Grand Final of the first regional CYBER SUMDU [CS:GO] e-sports tournament took place on May 14-16 at the Congress Center of Sumy State University.
About 300 pupils and university students took part in the school and student league competitions online and offline.
The tournament was organized by the Federation of E-Sports of Ukraine, Sumy State University, SumDU Student Rectorate, Academic and Research Institute of Business, Economics and Management, in particular, the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Faculty of Electronics and Information Technologies, SumDU Department of Military Training, Students' Scientific Society, doctoral students and young scientists of SumDU; all-Ukrainian public organization "Student Sports Union of Ukraine", Committee on Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The E-sports movement is developing rapidly on the basis of SumDU. Every year the university holds e-sports tournaments, and the number of participants is constantly increasing. E-sports is becoming not only an official sport but also a part of our university life, it uses high-quality material and technical base, modern rooms equipped with the latest technology. Training sportsmen, holding competitions, and developing games open new opportunities and prospects. Currently, SumDU is a leader in the region in the development of the e-sports movement.
Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work Oleksandr Brizhatyi noted that SumDU made every effort to organize competitions at a high professional level because the first regional tournament must be of the highest level.
The participants of the tournament demonstrated a high level of preparation and creative approach to game competitions, as well as a fair team fight. Everyone had the opportunity to watch the competition online.
The first vice-rector of SumDU, Professor Serhiy Lyeonov wished the winners to stay on top for as long as possible, and those who stopped one step away from victory - not to lose hope and train actively. He noted that e-sports is one of the 40 sports that are actively developing on the basis of Sumy State University, and invited the participants of the school league to continue development in this direction together with our university.
