On May 27, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Yagmur Ahmet Guldere visited Sumy State University together with Education Adviser Umit Yildiz and Second Secretary of the Embassy Ayşe Aydoğlu.

First, the Turkish delegation met with the Head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Khoma at the SumDU Congress Center, and then on the main campus of the university representatives of the Turkish embassy talked to the administration and Turkish students studying at our institution.

According to the rector of SumDU Vasyl Karpusha during the official part, a total of about 2,000 foreign students are currently studying at the institution, out of which more than a hundred are from Turkey. Most Turkish students study Medicine.

The rector stressed that among the priorities of the university - its further internationalization and attracting more foreign students to study at Sumy State University.

The Head of the International Affairs Department Kostyantyn Kyrychenko highlighted that SumDU currently has strong partnerships with Turkish universities. "Our cooperation with Turkish universities began in the late '90s. We currently have 10 partner universities. We mainly cooperate with them within the framework of the European Union's Erasmus+ Programme, the "Mevlana" programme of the Turkish Government, we implement joint scientific and educational projects," - the Head of the International Affairs Department said.

Ambassador Yagmur Ahmet Guldere expressed interest in the development of Turkey’s cooperation with Ukraine in the field of education. In this aspect, cooperation with Sumy State University is promising, as the institution provides quality education. The Turkish delegation was able to see this by getting acquainted with the modern educational base, in particular, technological innovations of the SumDU library and educational and research laboratory "Ulab", as well as having a conversation with Turkish students. Therefore, the Ambassador and Education Counselor of the Embassy of Turkey expressed their intention to deepen their country's partnership with SumDU, in particular, to inform as many applicants as possible about the prospects of education at our institution, which opens opportunities for further successful careers.
