On June 20-28, Rector’s Assistant, Head of the International Affairs Department,Dr. Kostyantyn KYRYCHENKO and Vice-Director for coordination of collaboration with foreign institutions and for work with international students of Institute of Business, Economics and Management, Dr. Tetyana MAYBORODA visited Nairobi (Kenya) to enhance the cooperation between Sumy State University and Kenyan higher education institutions.

This visit turned out successful in terms of presentation of the innovative potential of the university, a variety of modern study programmes, research areas and international cooperation. Communication with the representatives of the Kenyan HEIs, potential entrants and customers of the university’s services proved a great interest to SumDU. The bilateral strong intentions for establishment of a long-term partnership were achieved with the University of Nairobi, the Strathmore University, and Africa Nazarene University.

During the negotiations, prospective areas of cooperation were outlined, in particular, implementation of the programs of virtual and physical student mobility, exchanges of teachingstaff, joint research activities, joint publications and participation in conferences, implementation of short-term study programmes for teachers and students, professional developmentcourses for staff. The ceremonial signing of the corresponding agreements is planned for the near future.

During the visit, SumDU representatives have had meetings with the graduates of Nairobi international schools, who are interested in obtaining the higher education abroad, presented and study programmes and other opportunities at SumDU, participated in the International Education and Career Exhibition in Nairobi.

At the meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of  Kenya, Andrii PRAVEDNYK and the Embassy officers, the representatives of Sumy State University discussed the importance of the promotion of Ukrainian education in Kenya and enhancement of  cooperation in the field of higher education between the two countries.

So now, we are waiting for new joint projects and an increased number of Kenyan students at SumDU!
