The fifth International Conference on Design, Simulation, Manufacturing: The Innovation Exchange (DSMIE), organized by Sumy State University started on June 8.

Scientists involved in mechanical engineering, mechanics and chemical engineering research were supposed to gather in Sumy. Still, a safer venue was chosen due to the full-scale war in Ukraine. DSMIE-2022 is held in Poland based at Poznan University of Technology, which, together with the International Association for Technological Development and Innovation, is a co-organizer of the event. Representatives of SumDU work at the conference online.

In a video address to the participants, Alexander GUSAK, Dean of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies of SumDU, expressed special gratitude to the co-organizers for their help and support in preparing and holding the scientific forum. He also noted the partners of the event: the Technical University of Košice (Slovakia), the University of Technology in Kielce (Poland), the University of Western Bohemia (Czech Republic), and the Robotics Society of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the academic publishing company Springer Nature.

As noted at the opening of the conference by its chairman, head of the Department of "Technology of Mechanical Engineering, Machines and Tools" SumDU, Professor Vitaly IVANOV: "Stages of preparation for this year's event were crazy. We faced unforeseen obstacles, but we solved them! A step-by-step decision, a team of like-minded people and motivation, helped us organize the conference. "

He thanked all who supported Ukraine in these difficult times, noting that despite the constant heavy shelling during the siege of Sumy, Sumy State University has never stopped educational and scientific activities. "We believe in the future. We are sure that Ukraine is united as never before, and we will win!" - Vitaly IVANOV emphasized.

The conference will last for three days. Among the invited speakers are well-known scientists from leading European universities.
