On 2 November 2024, SumDU invited pupils, students of professional colleges, their parents and teachers to the Open Door Day. The traditional event for applicants was held in SumDU shelters. “Find Your Specialty or It Will Find You” was the motto.

Representatives of all faculties and institutes came in search of their future students. The event was intense: each structural unit prepared special locations for guests. A team of student ambassadors helped participants to understand the layout of locations and quickly find the one they were interested in.

The participants had an opportunity to determine their blood type at the Medical Institute, visit the mini-market from the BiEM Institute, play a computer game with the ElIT dean, get fingerprinted at the Law Institute, try your journalism hand at the IFSK Faculty, determine the nitrate content of various products at the TeSET Faculty.

For each activity, participants received chips, which they exchanged for prizes in the SumDU Souvenir Shop. In addition, applicants and their parents had an opportunity to discuss advantages and prospects of each specialty with representatives of institutes and faculties.

“The event goal is to help applicants find their profession. To do this, we want to tell future students about all opportunities and prospects offered by SumDU. It is important to give applicants a first-hand look at SumDU specialties. That is why the format of this Open Door Day involves a large number of different locations. Besides, each place is located in safe places, because the university cares not only about high-quality and effective education, but also about safety conditions for this. We hope that the applicants will be interested in the presented specialties and everyone will find their own,” – said Ivan KOZII (vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of SumDU).

Future students shared their impressions of the Open Door Day:

“I have not yet chosen my future profession, so I came to the event. I managed to get acquainted with all specialties. Each impressed me in its own way: it was very interesting and intense! Such Open Door Days help to understand in which direction to move on and where to look for yourself,” – said Dmytro.

Daria, a high school student, noted that she liked the opportunity to immerse herself in each profession: “Interacting with different tools and equipment, live communication with representatives of professions helps me to understand what awaits me after choosing a profession. I have not yet chosen my future profession. After today’s event, I have acquired some preferences”.

“I have already chosen my specialty and university. I want to study at Sumy State University. Although I know exactly what specialty I am going to study, I visited all locations. Because all presentations are very interesting. There were a lot of visitors but it was nice that university representatives were friendly, sociable, tried to help as much as possible, showed me around each location, and provided meaningful information. I was even more convinced that I want to study here, because Sumy State University has such a positive atmosphere. And, of course, because it is one of the best universities in Ukraine,” –shared Nastia her impressions.
