On 14 March 2025, Sumy State University hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the Alter-Ego poetry and literary translation contest, held by the Department of Germanic Philology at Sumy State University. The winners were determined in 4 nominations, namely: poems in Ukrainian, literary translations from English and German, and poems in English or German. It should be noted that this year more than 168 works were submitted to the contest by students and schoolchildren from all over Ukraine, from the Carpathian region to Slobozhanshchyna.

The jury traditionally consisted of S.V. Baranova, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor (chairman of the jury), S.O. Shvachko, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology, and other representatives of the Department of Germanic Philology and the Department of Journalism and Philology.

Based on the results of the evaluation of the competition entries, the authors who won prizes were determined.

Nomination for poems in Ukrainian:

1st place: Yulia Movenko (Sumy State University)

2nd place: Alina Mural (Dolyna Lyceum No. 4 of Dolyna City Council)

3rd place: Denys Yalovyi (National Technical University “Dnipro Polytechnic”)

Nomination for literary translations from English:

1st place: Anzhelika Chaban (Kherson State University)

1st place: Volodymyr Volhin (Kyiv National Linguistic University)

2nd place: Soboleva Olena (Kherson State University)

2nd place: Kauk Samira (Municipal Institution “Chuhuiv Support Lyceum No. 6 named after I. M. Kozhedub” of the Chuhuiv City Council of the Kharkiv Region, 9-B grade)

2nd place: Chursina Yelyzaveta (Municipal institution Sumy City Lyceum №33 of Sumy City Council)

3rd place: Kozubenko Margarita (Mykolaiv Lyceum №60, grade 10)

3rd place: Fisher Iryna (Cherkasy National University named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky)

3rd place: Yulia Reva (Sumy State University)

Nomination for literary translations from German:

1st place: Bohdan Vorobiov (Municipal Institution “Chuhuiv Support Lyceum No. 6 named after I. M. Kozhedub” of Chuhuiv City Council, Kharkiv Region, 10th grade)

1st place: Khrystyna Pidhorodetska (Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv)

2nd place: Kateryna Efimova (Sumy State University)

2nd place: Anna Peredrii (Sumy State University)

3rd place: Seraphima Ivakhniuk (Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University)

3rd place: Yana Kozel (Sumy State University)

Nomination for poems in English/German:

1st place: Prytula Iuliania (Municipal institution “Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training ‘Patriot’ of the Kharkiv Regional Council, 10th grade)

2nd place: Logvinov Maksym (Municipal institution “Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training ‘Patriot’ of the Kharkiv Regional Council, 11-B grade)

3rd place: Olga Tarnopolska (Kherson State University)

The winners were awarded with diplomas, and all participants received certificates.
