Scientist Vladyslav SIKORA participated in the International Conference on Ukrainian Recovery “The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025)”. It took place in Rome (Italy), where he made a significant contribution to promoting and enhancing the image of SumDU. Also, he currently belongs to and the University of Foggia (Italy). Here, he is currently conducting research.
The event was held at an extremely high level, bringing together state leaders, representatives of governments, international organizations, financial institutions, business, scientists, and civilians. Over 5,000 people took part in the conference. Within the URC2025, about 100 panel discussions were held and hundreds of memoranda and agreements were signed. The conference opening was attended by Volodymyr ZELENSKYI (the Ukrainian President). Among other important world leaders, there were Giorgia MELONI (the Italian Prime Minister), Ursula von der Leyen (the European Commission President), etc.
Vladyslav SIKORA had the honor of participating in a high-level political and scientific panel discussion “Science, Research, and Innovation for Reconstruction of Ukraine”. Here, senior officials and representatives of leading European scientific and governmental institutions participated. They were: Anna Maria BERNINI (the Minister of Universities and Research of Italy); Oksen LISOVYI (the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine); Yevhen KUDRIAVTSEV (the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine); Kateryna ZAKHARIEVA (the EU Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation); Rolf-Dieter JUNGK (the State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space); Andrzej SHEPTYTSKYI (the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland); Lidia Artur BRITO (the Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences at UNESCO); Ivan FEDOROV (the Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration of Ukraine). The panel was moderated by Fabiola GIANOTTI (the Director-General of CERN – Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire).
The panelists discussed challenges facing the Ukrainian scientific community and prospects for restoring the Ukrainian scientific ecosystem. Also, it concerned importance of developing international cooperation in innovations. The discussion resulted in official approval of the Rome Declaration of Intentions on Science, Research, and Innovation in Ukraine. Vladislav SIKORA's participation was made possible thanks to support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the MSCA4Ukraine program, which is funded by the European Commission.
SumDU is proud of participation of its young scientists in international events. We continue to work towards integration of Ukrainian science into the global scientific and educational space.
