The team of Sumy State University, represented by Dr. Oksana Shovkoplias (Department of Computer Science), Dr. Anna Nenia (Department of Information Technologies), and Dr. Yurii Zuban (E-Learning Technologies Center), has actively joined the intensive phase of the international Erasmus+ project Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative (DigiUni).

On February 1, 2026, the large-scale Training of Trainers programme was launched. This initiative is designed to strengthen the capacity of academic staff to develop innovative educational content for DigiPlatform, a nationwide digital learning environment.

As a key member of the consortium, Sumy State University performs a dual role within the project. The university serves as a co-leader of the work package dedicated to the development of methodologies for creating digital content. In parallel, the SumDU team has committed to designing at least ten academic courses to be hosted on DigiPlatform, with the ambition of establishing benchmarks for quality and innovation.

The Training of Trainers programme, which aims to certify more than 60 trainers across Ukraine, is structured into three stages:

Asynchronous learning (February 1–22, 2026) – independent study of specialised modules delivered via the University of Alicante (Spain) platform.

Synchronous sessions (February 23 – March 8, 2026) – intensive live workshops combined with practical skills assessment.

Internal scaling (March 15 – April 30, 2026) – training activities at partner universities to disseminate developed approaches and solutions.

Yurii Zuban, Director of the E-Learning Technologies Center, announced the introduction of parallel learning tracks focused on technical design and innovative tools. These tracks address the establishment of unified requirements for structuring content on DigiPlatform and provide expert guidance on integrating artificial intelligence and VR technologies into the educational process.

Participation in the Training of Trainers programme represents a strategically significant step for Sumy State University. It enables the university’s specialists to finalise the development of their digital courses in alignment with European standards and high-quality criteria. This contribution forms an essential part of DigiUni’s broader mission: building an open digital ecosystem for Ukrainian higher education, fully integrated into the European Higher Education Area.
