Spanish National Research Council published the first edition of the international Ranking Web of Universities (Webometrics). Now Sumy State University is the first among higher education institutions of Ukraine.
Webometrics Ranking has been analyzing about 25 000 world HEIs that have their own web resources for more than 15 years. The main idea of the ranking is evaluating of scientific, academic and social missions of the universities via indicators of the university’s presentation in web space.
On July 16, the academic, research and manufacturing centre “Technologies for Modern Engineering Materials” was opened in Sumy State University within the partnership with the European manufacturing companies. The centre was opened by the Rector of Sumy State University Anatoliy Vasylyev together with the representatives of Czech companies: Mikhail Voleinyk, the General Manager and Liudmyla Fatkova, the Head of HR department of F.X MEILLER Slaný company; Oleksii Dashutin, the Technical Director and Kyrylo Kasaiev, the Executive Director of AIR Supply company.
On the last days of the World Universiade, which was held in Naples, Italy, the archers from Sumy State University won two bronze medals at once!
The doctoral student of the Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “UAB”, Polina Rodionova, a member of Ukrainian women's team, celebrated the victory in the bronze final of Olympic archery competitions among female teams. On the way to the bronze prize, Ukrainian archers won the teams of Indonesia (5-3) and Chinese Taipei (5-4).
Delegation from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Ireland) represented by David Quin, Prof. of the Department of Film and Media, Erasmus+ coordinator, David Doyle, coordinator of the Student Academic Affairs Department and Patrick Moffat, senior technical specialist of the Information Services Department visited Sumy State University on 23-27 June, 2019. The aim of the visit was to analyze the experience of Sumy colleagues in the development of SumDU e-cabinet system for further introduction of such a system at the Institute of Art, Design, and Technology. The visit was implemented within a joint Erasmus + ICM project.
On June 23rd the first field-and-track starts took place at European Games in Minsk. Two students of the Medical Institute of SumDU (major “Sport”) ran the mixed pursuit relay (800m-600m-400m-200m).
On June 22nd-23rd Hungarian city of Paks hosted the Europe Junior Judo Cup. Medical Institute student Anastasiia Antipina won the bronze award in the weight category up to 63 kg. Anastasiia started her tournament by defeating the sportswoman from the Netherlands in the first tour, but in the next fight in extra time she lost to Hungarian Lara Cvjetko. Having fallen to the lower bracket, our contestant didn’t lose her eagerness. The three fast, flawless and confident victories over the representatives of Germany, Slovenia and France allowed Anastasiia to go up the third step of the victory podium.
On June 19th the new QS World University Rankings results for 2019/20 were published. Sumy State University has strengthened its position entering the TOP-5 of the best higher education institutions of Ukraine and moved up to a category 701-750 in a world ranking.
On June 7th-9th ship modelling international competition - IV Tenshock CUP Lesznowola 2019 took place in Warsaw (Poland). 50 representatives from Italy, Denmark, Romania, Germany, Ukraine, Poland took part in the competition. Traditionally, the best Europe sportsmen are invited to this event, they are performing in classes of fast ship models with electric engine. The 2nd year student of the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies Yevheniia Rudenko presented Sumy State University at this competition. She performed in the group “mini-mono” and got the 3rd place. Congratulations to Yevheniia and her coach Pavlo Rudenko and wish her new outstanding victories!
On June 5th-7th the scientists from Umea University (Sweden) visited Medical Institute of Sumy State University. The delegation was composed of: Professor Thomas Boren and Doctor Zhanna Buhaitsova from the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, and Professors Anders Berglund and Majid Ebrahimi. Guests conducted 6 lectures concerning peculiarities dental education and providing dental assistance in Sweden and issue of helicobacter pylori adaptation to different conditions.
SumDU has been a partner of the International REHAB grant project “Innovative Rehabilitation Education - Introduction of new master’s degree programs in Ukraine” of EU Erasmus+ program since 2018. The main goal of the project is development and implementation of the new master study programs in direction “Physical rehabilitation and Physiotherapy” based on the European HEIs experience. At the end of May 2019 representatives of the project workgroup – the Head of the International Affairs Department Kostyantyn Kyrychenko and Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation and Sport Medicine Olha Sytnyk - took part in the work meeting within the project that took place on the base of Josef Pilsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, Poland and gathered the representatives of HEIs project partners from Poland, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine.
