On 11 October 2023, the NovaГазета periodical (for the Ukrainian diaspora in New York) published an article by Raisa STOIAN. She is a senior lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Philology of Sumy State University. The article reports on activities of university volunteers during the full-scale Russian invasion into Ukraine.
Within the partnership between SumDU, Krakow University of Economics and Małopolska School of Public Administration (Poland), a meeting was held under the international EU project “Developing Innovative Sustainable Cooperation Opportunities-DISCO”.
Sumy State University is 75 years old since its foundation. On 12 October 2023, the anniversary forum gathered scientific and pedagogical workers, representatives of administrative management, student self-government, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, regional authorities, people’s deputies, members of the Supervisory Board. Also, there were veterans who developed and contributed to the SumDU success. Colleagues from partner institutions joined too.
On 11 October 2023, a press conference was held on the basis of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University. It presented the project “Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative” (DigiUni) of the Erasmus+ Program.
On 4 October 2023, the opening of student games took place in the Palace of Sports. That was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the SumDU foundation.
Yevhenii BALIEVSKYI (a Master’s student in the Physical Culture and Sports specialty) became the winner of the European Judo Cup in the 100+ kg weight category.

According to the new results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, SumDU takes the top position among Ukrainian universities. Besides, it belongs to 500 best institutions worldwide.
A large-scale meeting of representatives of the European University Alliance “Unite!” took place on the basis of Wroclaw Polytechnic in Poland (a SumDU partner). The organization unites higher education institutions from 9 EU countries (Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Finland, France and Sweden), 7 leading Ukrainian universities and heads of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education.
The web portal Study Abroad Aide (South Korea) presents over 8,000 higher education institutions from 72 countries worldwide. It has published results of the 2023-2024 World Rankings for Best Universities for International Students.
