From September 29 to October 1, 2024, a significant event took place in Fulda, Germany – the Second General Assembly of the European University Alliance E³UDRES², which welcomed over 100 participants. The Alliance unites leading European higher education institutions that collaborate on innovations in science, education, and industrial research. For the first time, all members of the Alliance gathered at Fulda University of Applied Sciences to discuss strategic development directions, assess the results of the first year of funding, and plan future steps.

The Physical Education and Sports Committee at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, together with the Ukrainian Sports Student Union, traditionally congratulated winners and prize-winners of the Summer Universiade. SumDU took the second place among all institutions of higher education and won the golden championship cup.

Volodymyr ZELENSKYI (the President of Ukraine) met with educators from the border regions of Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Poltava. He congratulated them on the Day of Education Workers.

On 1-4 October 2024, the fifth training workshop “Network of Universities to Improve Management Capabilities and New Developments: The Best Practices of the University of Strasbourg and the EPICUR Alliance” took place in France. The host was the University of Strasbourg (France). The event was held within the EU Erasmus+ project “Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative” (DigiUni).

Natalia Letunovska and Yurii Petrushenko (researchers from the BiEM Institute) have been awarded Fulbright scholarships to conduct research at American institutions in 2024-2025.

On 1 October 2024 (Day of Ukrainian Defenders), the Alley of Fallen Hero Glory was opened at SumDU. It is dedicated to soldiers of the 155th battalion and the Basy territorial defense unit.

On 1 October 2024, Ukraine honors heroes – courageous and victorious defenders of our country! On the eve of the Day of Ukrainian Defenders, SumDU laid flowers at the “Memorial Sign to the Fallen Student Soldier”.

Roman MOSKALENKO and Oleksii PLASTUN (SumDU professors) are winners of the Talents for Ukraine grant program from the KSE Foundation in the Science category.

Kateryna PERCHULA is a fourth-year student majoring in Social Work at SumDU. She juggles studies and work. Her profession takes on extra importance during the full-scale invasion. She helps war victims.
