Sumy State University joined the international project “Two steps: internationalization in practice – Sweden, Ukraine, Belarus” within the cooperation with the Baltic University Programme (BUP).
On December 21st a training and research laboratory of virtual and augmented reality Ulab was opened at Sumy State University. This is a unique laboratory that has no analogues in Ukrainian higher education institutions. It can be used to construct virtual training objects for different educational programmes. For example, this laboratory gives an opportunity for modelling of any equipment, conducting of virtual social scenarios and experiments, organising of interactive tours and excursions, cooperation between participants within the training simulations (military, sport etc.).
Youtube channel of SumDU released a series of videos with Fulbright Program scholars: Tetiana Marynych, Director of SumDU Library, Tetiana Pimonenko, Deputy Head for International Activities of Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Research Institute of Finance, Economics and Management, and Hanna Shvindina, the Head of Management Department of Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Research Institute of Finance, Economics and Management.
Sumy State University entered the final stage of the project competition on educational technologies Reimagine Education Awards and represented Ukraine at the exhibition-conference in London. This event also known as the "Oscars" of Education took place on December 9th-10th at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre. The QS Ranking Agency and Wharton Learning Lab of University of Pennsylvania organized the 6th edition of the annual event.
Sumy State University took the second place in top-10 Ukrainian higher education institutions, which entered the World ecological ranking UI GreenMetric. In a general ranking, SumDU took the 208th place (last year result - 216) among 780 education institutions (in 2018 - 719), from 85 world countries (2018 - 81).
The final session in the Virtual Global classroom – educational project that comprised 7 countries and 10 world universities is finished. Teachers of all partner universities of the project adapted the work programme and teaching their disciplines to the topic “Hospitality, Restaurant and Tourism Management”. Students from Ukraine, the USA, India, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Great Britain passed 12 lessons simultaneously at the Zoom conference. Professor Dipra Jha from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln coordinated the project. On the basis of performance students received certificates of the University of Nebraska on this course that will be credited as an element of academic mobility.
SumDU took part in International Higher Education Summit AFRICA 2019, held on November 19-20, 2019 in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa. During the Summit SumDU in partnership with Ukrainian State Center for International education was represented by the Deputy Director of Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Reseacrh Institute of Finance, Economics and Management for coordination of collaboration with foreign institutions and work with international students Tetyana Mayboroda.
On November 18, 2019, SumDU welcomed participants of the academic tour for young scientists within the framework of the Czech project. The meeting was intended to learn about the infrastructure of university and know-how in order to create the scientific cooperation between the universities of Ukraine and the Czech Republic. During the visit to the SNAU on November 19, SumDU and all partner universities were presented with a seedling of ginkgo Biloba tree as a sign of the future cooperation growth.
On November 8th the Large conference hall of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine held an annual awarding ceremony “Science Leader of Ukraine 2019. Web of Science Award”. Sumy State University entered the list of the best higher education institutions of Ukraine and received an award in the category “Science Influence Leader: All Fields”.
On November 13th -14th SumDU gathered true fans of annual talent-show, which is traditionally conducted among first-year students on the International Students Day eve. The online broadcasting has been organized during 2 days for those, who wish to keep an eye on these creative activities virtually.
