On May 16th, the scientific community of Ukraine celebrates a professional holiday – the Science Day. Sumy State University traditionally celebrates the holiday with significant success in scientific activity.
Students of Sumy State University won the largest number of academic scholarships of the President of Ukraine among higher education institutions of the region (according to the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science № 576 of April 29th, 2020).
According to the results of the competitive selection under the KA205 programme - Strategic Partnerships Youth of the Erasmus+ National Agency in Poland, the project of Sumy State University "Patostreaming" - counteracting pathological cyber streaming attitudes amongst youth – entered the list of the winners.
Oleksii Plastun, Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations at Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies "UAB", topped the ranking of the best economists in Ukraine according to the ranking of one of the world's largest depositories on economic issues RePEc.
On April 30th, Sumy State University broadcasted a live program on “Academic Integrity at the New Ukrainian school”, which was attended by the experts from Sumy, Kyiv and the United States of America.
The Family Support Center “Family Friendly University” continues to work online, organizing creative classes daily at the ZOOM platform. Aliona Berlet is the specialist of the center who has developed the program and conducts classes. The purpose of this activity is to help children in the realization of the individual creative abilities and to provide parents - students, postgraduates, teachers, and staff with time to study and work online. Children make crafts, draw, play word games, solve puzzles, and develop speaking skills.
The dance group of Sumy State University “Suzirya Paradise” (headed by Liudmyla Kraminska) won the first place in the "Talented Country" distance competition. The participants sent a video with their pre-recorded performances and won the 1st place in the “Choreographic Art” nomination. The festival took place in April 2020 in a remote mode, with more than 400 participants.
Everyone who wanted to become the author of the free encyclopedia had the opportunity to join the event. Participants learned the Wikipedia educational program, got knowledge and skills in writing and editing articles, got acquainted with the features and specifics of their creation, received the necessary methodical material.
A proper e-learning process is going on at SumDU during the quarantine. The mechanisms of communication between teachers and students - from messaging and social networks to using video communication tools and collective learning from leading world companies - are defined.
On April 22nd, the Head of Sumy Regional State Administration Roman Hryshchenko visited Sumy State University campuses within a working trip. He got acquainted with the innovative potential of the university, the specifics of the educational process during quarantine, and scientific developments of SumDU scientists.
