SumDU scientists in quarantine conditions have an opportunity to conduct research through methods of scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, x-ray microanalysis, x-radiography, spectrophotometry and chromatography with the help of the Centre of core facilities “Laboratory of material science of solar power system, sensor and nanoelectronic systems”.
The first live stream took place on April 1st on the subject of “The experience of online learning technologies: what is available to the teacher today?” that was conducted by Hanna Shvindina, the Head of the Management Department of Oleg Balatskyi Academic and Research Institute of Finance, Economics and Management. In order to make the stream #SumDU_live more interactive, the speaker contacted its participants via two platforms: Facebook and Hangouts Meet.
Specialists of the Departments of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology and Paediatrics of the Medical Institute of SumDU created the standard of drug-induced administration provided for the treatment of patients of middle and severe acute of COVID-19. Guidelines are approved by the Department of Public Health of Sumy Regional State Administration.
Translator students of the Department of Germanic Philology of SumDU won in the IV International student translation contest “Translation as a tool for updating ethno-lingual images of the world”, results of which were summed up online on March 26th on the base of the Faculty of Foreign Philology of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University.

All delegations came back to Ukraine before the beginning of quarantine announcement due to spread of dangerous coronavirus COVID-19 in the world.
On March 26th Sumy State University joined the Coursera for Campus program that provides a free access to over 3800 courses from the leading universities and companies of the world. All the teachers, students and employees of SumDU can register for unlimited number of courses till July 31st 2020 and finish them till September 31st 2020.
The Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology of the Medical Institute of SumDU Mykola Chemych spoke about the symptoms of the COVID-19 virus and its precautionary measures on the air of “CTC” TV channel.
He emphasized the need of strict compliance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and the measures provided by the Ukrainian quarantine to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection.
There is a series of webinars for medical workers on the peculiarities of work during the epidemiological situation are going on at SumDU, which are conducted by the scientists of the university with a technical support of the specialists of the Center of Media Broadcasting of SumDU.
On March 24th a webinar was organized at SumDU for medical professionals and family doctors on the use of personal protective equipment during contact with patients. The webinar was hosted by Mykola Chemych, the Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases with Epidemiology of the Medical Institute, the Chief Expert of the Regional Infectious Diseases Department Iryna Trotska and instructors of the Public Health Center, representatives of Sumy Regional Organization of the Red Cross Society.
On 23rd of March the session of the rectorate took place online due to quarantine at SumDU. Henceforth rectorates and other meetings will be conducted online.
SumDU rector Anatoliy Vasylyev disclosed a number of normative documents according to which the university staff is working in the period of precautionary measures. In particular, the question was about ensuring of a stable educational process for the students of all the modes of study, including the possible defences of qualification papers via distance technologies. There were no changes in the educational process schedule.
Due to the All-Ukrainian quarantine the education process of all the modes of study in the university is conducted in the distance mode. Andrii Loboda, Director of the Medical Institute of SumDU, told about the organization of medical students’ education on the air of “CTC” TV channel.
He noted that SumDU system of distance learning under conditions of quarantine proved its effectiveness. Teachers and students have corporate electronic cabinets via which due to mobile devices the communication of the educational process participants is conducted online, sending the tasks, their checking etc.
