On 19 June 2025, SumDU became the venue for presenting results of state certification of scientific and technical activities among Ukrainian institutions.
The event was attended by Denys KURBATOV (deputy minister for education and science of Ukraine), Hryhorii MOZOLEVYCH (director general of the Directorate for Science Development), Iryna KRASOVSKA (deputy director of the Directorate for Innovation and Relations with the Real Economy Sector) and Heorhii VASYLIEV (consultant of the Education Ministry).
SumDU continues to systematically carry out work to eliminate consequences of the missile strike on 13 April 2025. Over the last week, a number of technical measures have been implemented in several academic buildings.
The British rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has published results of the QS World University Rankings 2026. It features 1,501 higher education institutions from over 100 countries, including 10 higher education institutions in Ukraine.

Times Higher Education, one of the world’s most influential ranking agencies, has published results of its annual THE Impact Rankings. It assesses scientific, educational, managerial, and support activities of higher education institutions across all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
SumDU scientists, in collaboration with the O. M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, are implementing an interdisciplinary project on virtual reconstruction of lost cultural heritage sites in Sumy Oblast.
May was a month of active recovery work after the SumDU damage as a result of rocket strikes on 13 April 2025.
As of 1 June 2025, the total amount of donations to SumDU charity accounts since 13 April was 2,245,479.45 hryvnias, of which 14,700 hryvnias were received in May. Expenses for May are 206,412.5 hryvnias, and total expenses since the recovery start are 898,841.62 hryvnias.
A forum dedicated to the presentation of the annual report of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights for 2024 was held in Sumy Oblast.
The event brought together a wide range of participants: representatives of state authorities, local self-government bodies, educational institutions, human right institutions, law enforcement agencies, veterans, and public organizations.
Every year, SumDU students win prestigious academic contests in various disciplines. Yuliia KOLODYCH (journalism student) shared her experience of participating in the International Student Academic Contest and the challenges she faced on her way to victory.
On 13 April 2025, as a result of a missile strike on the Sumy center, historical sites, in particular architectural monuments on Petropavlivska Street, suffered significant damage and destruction. These sites are of local cultural and historical value. They are part of the city’s unique historical and architectural environment.
