On 18 August 2025, SumDU was again attacked by the Russian army. The enemy deliberately and cynically struck several consecutive blows at the leading educational institution – the center of scientific and intellectual development.
At a time when the enemy is deliberately destroying the educational infrastructure and trying to strike at the intellectual future of Ukraine, the academic community solidarity is of extremely great importance.
On 20 August 2025, Anatolii Vasylovych VASYLIEV celebrates his anniversary. He is SumDU Academic Council Head, Honored Worker of Ukrainian Education, laureate of the Ukrainian State Prize in Education, scholarship holder of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, professor, PhD in Technical Sciences, Honored Sumy Citizen.
Sumy State University has won the THEA Ukraine Lead Project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space with support from DAAD.
SumDU has again become the target of an enemy air strike.
The attack was directed against civilian infrastructure – an educational institution, one of the leading centers of science and culture in the north-east of Ukraine. The enemy deliberately and cynically attacks places where knowledge is born, where research is conducted to preserve human lives and develop society, where Ukrainian culture and identity are formed.
July 2025 was another month of consistent work on restoring SumDU infrastructure, which was damaged by air strikes on 13 April 2025. As of 08 January 2025, the total amount of receipts to SumDU charitable accounts amounted to 2,309,847 hryvnias, 1,000 pounds and 345 euros.
SumDU keeps taking measures to restore the damaged infrastructure after the missile attack on 13 April 2025. The work is being carried out systematically and in accordance with technical conclusions.
A step towards digital transformation of education: SumDU at the meeting of DigiUni project managers
A SumDU team (consisting of Yurii ZUBAN, Oksana SHOVKOPLIAS, and Anna NENI) took part in a meeting with the DigiUni project management group. The title is “Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative”.
SumDU and Private University of Marrakech signed an agreement on a double degree program in Medicine
On 1 August 2025, SumDU hosted an online signing ceremony with Private University of Marrakech (Morocco) for an agreement on implementing a double degree program in Medicine.
Sumy State University has received humanitarian aid from its partner, Örebro University , (Kingdom of Sweden): a shipment of office furniture that arrived on our campus on July 28, 2025.
