On 13 April 2024, two students of the SumDU Medical Institute (Daria LOBODA and Svitlana STEPA) were killed in the enemy attack.

On April 7–10, 2025, Istanbul (Türkiye) hosted the EURIE 2025 Eurasia Higher Education Summit – one of the leading international forums in the field of higher education internationalization. The summit brought together representatives of universities, government agencies, educational companies, and research institutions from over 70 countries across Europe, Asia, the USA, and the Middle East.

On 13 April 2025, Russia committed another bloody crime against the civilian population of Ukraine. A missile attack on the Sumy center killed 34 people and wounded 119 persons. Many people are in serious condition. Two SumDU students were among the victims of the insidious enemy.

On 8 April 2025, the professional development program for library staff “Innovative Strategies for Development of University Libraries within Digital Transformation and Social Challenges” was started. It will last till 18 April.

On 4 April 2025, SumDU hosted a panel discussion for teachers working in the STEM education – computer science, mathematics, and physics. The event “HighTech. Education. Sumy Region” brought together educators, university representatives, and IT business for an open dialogue on challenges, needs, and opportunities of modern technical education.

On 7 April 2025, SumDU hosted the traditional event “Face to Face with the Rector” organized by the student administration. Representatives of the student community from all faculties and institutes came to meet with rector Vasyl KARPUSHA.

Sumy State University proudly marked the three-year anniversary of of the UK–Ukraine Twinning Initiative, by taking part in the UK–Ukraine Research Twinning Showcase Conference and Networking Event held on March 27–28, 2025 at the University of Liverpool.

From 31 March to 4 April 2025, Alla Krasulia, Head of the International Affairs Department at Sumy State University, took part in the XIV International Staff Week, hosted by the University of Almería, Spain. The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions from across the European Union, Latin America, the Balkans, and Armenia, creating a dynamic platform for meaningful exchange, networking, and development of inter-institutional cooperation.

Anatolii Mykolaiovych ROMANIUK is SumDU honorary professor, head of the Center for Pathomorphological Research, professor of the Department of Pathological Anatomy at the Medical Institute. Over the years of his activity, he has made an invaluable contribution to development of pathological anatomy.

On April 4, Sumy State University (SSU) hosted a training session titled “Service-learning: From Planning to Implementation in the Educational Process” for representatives of higher education institutions, local territorial communities, and civic education experts.
