On 25 October 2024 (the Day of Ukrainian Literacy), SumDU students and staff came together to share the unique atmosphere of unity that has been created by the largest Ukrainian-language flash mob for twenty-five years in a row.
Valeriu CHIVERI visited SumDU together with the Moldovan Honorary Consul Emil NURIEV, member of parliament Mykhailo ANANCHENKO and Chairman of the Sumy Regional Council Oleksii ROMANKO.
On 20 October 2024, SumDU welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the French Republic in Ukraine.
The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is an international program to promote international exchange of knowledge and cultures. It provides lecturers from different countries with an opportunity to gain new experience in teaching and research at American universities. In 2024-2025, 10 scholars from Ukraine were awarded Fulbright scholarships. Two of them belong to SumDU.
A team of SumDU lecturers, headed by the first vice-rector Inna SHKOLNYK, visited the National University of Ireland in Cork (University College Cork). It is a part of the project “Supporting the Recognition of Qualifications for Ukrainian Universities”.
SumDU ranks first among Ukrainian universities. It is the only one among domestic institutions to be included in the TOP 1000 best universities worldwide in the updated Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025.
From September 29 to October 1, 2024, a significant event took place in Fulda, Germany – the Second General Assembly of the European University Alliance E³UDRES², which welcomed over 100 participants. The Alliance unites leading European higher education institutions that collaborate on innovations in science, education, and industrial research. For the first time, all members of the Alliance gathered at Fulda University of Applied Sciences to discuss strategic development directions, assess the results of the first year of funding, and plan future steps.

The Physical Education and Sports Committee at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, together with the Ukrainian Sports Student Union, traditionally congratulated winners and prize-winners of the Summer Universiade. SumDU took the second place among all institutions of higher education and won the golden championship cup.
Volodymyr ZELENSKYI (the President of Ukraine) met with educators from the border regions of Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Poltava. He congratulated them on the Day of Education Workers.
